World Digital Library.

¡AVE!.

We want to share with yo this great notice.

IT HAS BEEN OPENED IN INTERNET THE WORLD DIGITAL LIBRARY...., THE WDL.

A GREAT PRESENT FROM THE UNESCO FOR MANKIND!

"
The World Digital Library (WDL) makes available on the Internet, free of charge and in multilingual format, significant primary materials from countries and cultures around the world.
The principal objectives of the WDL are to:
  • Promote international and intercultural understanding;
  • Expand the volume and variety of cultural content on the Internet;
  • Provide resources for educators, scholars, and general audiences;
  • Build capacity in partner institutions to narrow the digital divide within and between countries.
The WDL makes it possible to discover, study, and enjoy cultural treasures from around the world on one site, in a variety of ways. These cultural treasures include, but are not limited to, manuscripts, maps, rare books, musical scores, recordings, films, prints, photographs, and architectural drawings.

Items on the WDL may easily be browsed by place, time, topic, type of item, and contributing institution, or can be located by an open-ended search, in several languages. Special features include interactive geographic clusters, a timeline, advanced image-viewing and interpretive capabilities. Item-level descriptions and interviews with curators about featured items provide additional information.

Navigation tools and content descriptions are provided in Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish. Many more languages are represented in the actual books, manuscripts, maps, photographs, and other primary materials, which are provided in their original languages.

The WDL was developed by a team at the U.S. Library of Congress, with contributions by partner institutions in many countries; the support of the United Nations Education, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO); and the financial support of a number of companies and private foundations.

LGV in Sigüenza 2010. San Vicente Martir Celebrations.

¡AVE!

LGV has participated on the celebrations of San Vicente Martir that were organized by AES - Association of Businessman of Sigüenza. The celebrations took place in Sigüenza on days 22, 23 and 24 of jarnuary.

We were vey lucky, because the weather treated us well. This could make possible to enjoy the celebrations without any problems.

On saturday morning we were in Arab's Camp that was ubicated on the castle's fields.
The castle is now a National Parador.

That morning we did a Combat Exhibition with sword and shield, half-hand swords and sword and shield against spears on the Plaza Mayor.

The Sigüenza's Plaza Mayor (Principal Square) is a very remarkable place for doing this kinds of events, because you can see the Cathedral on one side, and the Council Town with its arcades on the other side. It is a place with a very special atmosfere.

In the evening, arounf 7pm hours. It was recreated the battle for the freedom of Sigüenza from the Arab's hands.
After the battle we did another Exhibition Combat.

At that time the square was full of people and you could felt a great sense of enjoyment.

At 10pm in the night, in San Vicente's Square a very big bonfire was made, and those braves that dare jumped over the fire.
We fight with the light of the bonfire.

On Sunday the Arab Camp didn't exist any more and we became a Cristhian Knigts.

We have the pleasure that we could assist with our knigts clothes to the Sunday mass in San Vicente's Church that was celebrated in latin.

During the mass the musicians were playing their medieval instruments. That gave a very special atmosfere to the celebration and we think that everybody that was there felt the celebration in a special way.

Many thanks to the priet for its amability.

Just before lunch time we did another Combat Exhibition and that was the end of the
celebrations.

Here are the photos that we maked and we want to encourage you to visit Sigüenza.
