World Digital Library.

¡AVE!.

We want to share with yo this great notice.

IT HAS BEEN OPENED IN INTERNET THE WORLD DIGITAL LIBRARY...., THE WDL.

A GREAT PRESENT FROM THE UNESCO FOR MANKIND!

"
The World Digital Library (WDL) makes available on the Internet, free of charge and in multilingual format, significant primary materials from countries and cultures around the world.
The principal objectives of the WDL are to:
  • Promote international and intercultural understanding;
  • Expand the volume and variety of cultural content on the Internet;
  • Provide resources for educators, scholars, and general audiences;
  • Build capacity in partner institutions to narrow the digital divide within and between countries.
The WDL makes it possible to discover, study, and enjoy cultural treasures from around the world on one site, in a variety of ways. These cultural treasures include, but are not limited to, manuscripts, maps, rare books, musical scores, recordings, films, prints, photographs, and architectural drawings.

Items on the WDL may easily be browsed by place, time, topic, type of item, and contributing institution, or can be located by an open-ended search, in several languages. Special features include interactive geographic clusters, a timeline, advanced image-viewing and interpretive capabilities. Item-level descriptions and interviews with curators about featured items provide additional information.

Navigation tools and content descriptions are provided in Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish. Many more languages are represented in the actual books, manuscripts, maps, photographs, and other primary materials, which are provided in their original languages.

The WDL was developed by a team at the U.S. Library of Congress, with contributions by partner institutions in many countries; the support of the United Nations Education, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO); and the financial support of a number of companies and private foundations.

Segovia Romana 2010.

¡AVE!.

With a big sorrow we have to tell you that this year 2010 is not going to be celebrated the SEGOVIA ROMANA Festival.

We have received a notification from the Promotion and Comunication Department of Segovia.

What the told us, is that is just a temporary suspension, so we still have the hope that the Festival will be celebrated in 2011.

We want to encourage the Council of Segovia and its Tourist Department to continuing working in SEGOVIA ROMANA.

To make notice of the interest for the festival, we have created a page in facebook where you can be a fan.

I Conference about Segovia's Historical Recovery and Tourist. (2)

¡AVE!

Like we have talked to you, the last 18th of December we attend to the I Conference about Segovia's Historical Recovery and Tourist.

First of all, we visit the new Exhibition Place dedicated to the Jewish quarter of Segovia.

This Exhibition Place is located in the ancient house of the Jew ABRAHAM SENNEOR, who was Chancellor of the Exchequer for the Catholics Kings of Spain (Isabel y Fernando).

We highly recommend this visit. So if you go to Segovia and you have left some time after visiting the Acueducto and the Alcazar, we encouage you to go there.

The Exhibition Place dedicated to the Jewish quarter of Segovia has been thought in a way to be didactic, interesting and amused. All of this is possible, because all the new tecnologie that they allow us to use in order to learn many things about the Jewish culture and heritage, tactile screens, virtual books and many others cool things. The vitual synagogue is really curious and allow you to learn about the Shabat Celebration.

After that, we went to the Academy of History of Segovia, that is located in the ancient church of San Quirce. There we could attend to three interesting conferences.

The first conference was “Segovia and the Aqueduct” and was imparted by D. Aurelio Ramírez – Dr. Ingeniero de Canales.

The second conference was “Aqueducts and Roman Hydraulic" and was imparted by Inmaculada Teixell - Arqueóloga del Excmo. Ayuntamiento de Ayuntamiento de Tarragona.

The third conference was about the Roman Village discovered in Valladolid and the museum that has been created around it and eas imparted by Margarita Sánchez Simón - Arqueóloga del Museo de las Villas Romanas de Almenara de Adaja-Puras. Diputación de Valladolid.

It was a shame that we couldn't stay there for the afternoon's conferences, but the weather was very bad, and we choose to went to Segovia by train using the AVE's and this limited us our time in Segovia.

Thank you to everybody.

Visit to the Archaeological Site of Vega Baja in Toledo (Spain)

¡AVE!

In the 17th of October we were in the Second Opening Day of the Archaeological Site of Vega Baja in Toledo (Spain).

It was a really interesting experience, because the archaeologists that are working in the site are the ones that show you the site too. The explanation took one hour but in any moment was boring of to difficulty to understand, even for people like us that we don't have too much knowledge for the arqueological tecniques.

The site is quite big, an there is too much work to do for many years, but even in this moment you can appreciate its importance, because the "Códices" talk us that Toledo was the capital of visigodos reing, but until now, no one could discover any important visigodos traces in Toledo. For this reason this site will provide the confirmation.

From Ludus Gladiatorium Vulcanum, we encourage you to continue with this job, an many other that we know are being doing out of Toledo's walls. An we are sure, just in some time, this site will be a new point of interest for the people that every day visit Toledo.

GLADIATOR'S VIDEOGAMES

¡AVE!

Today we are going to speak about some videogames related to the gladitor's world and that we like them.

In this mini-game, from BBC's web, you have to equip three differents types of gladiators for their arena's fights. Only if the equipment is completely correct for that kind of gladiator, he will achieve the total victory.

In this other mini-game from Playmovil's web, is quite easy, but is worthy to wait the time for loading just to see the prologue film of the game, is really nice and funny.

This game has been released this year and is based in a several didactic books about history, that are well know over the world.
The video is really curious, because using really funny's mini-games, you learn a lot of silly little facts about the roman world.

At last, we remmember you this videogame, even when is some years old, and been played and finished meny times, is still one of our most favourites games. Is not a historis game, but is very amused. Its has a lot of details, like the diversity of equipment, types of gladiators, many differents arenas, and its has a very well achivement of balance of power betwen the differents types of gladiators.
(Click in the image for more information).

If anyone know any other videogames about gladiators please inform us in order to increase this list.

V Edition. Segovia Romana 2009.

¡AVE!

We just come back from our participation in the V Edition of Segovia Romana (2009).

Is has been really a great experience, we have worked a lot, but we have enjoyed a lot too, and the best of all, the people, has enjoyed our "Gladiator's School" and ours "Figthing Gladiators Exhibitions" very much.

We are vey happy, because we see, how the kids, some of them very youngs ones, have finded the "Gladiators Scholl" interesting an funny and they passes a vey good time.

We wish that our "Fighting Gladiators Exhibitions" that includes, several explanations about the equipment , the weapons and the types of gladiators were worthy to the people to understand in a better way the Gladiator's Worlds an could be a way to iniciate the people in the curiosity por the Roman World.

We felt a little bit of proud when at the end of one Gladiator's School when we gave a picture to draw for the childrens, one kid quickly identifies one of the gladiators of the picture an said:
- "Look this one is a Retiario, because he has a net like the man that has figthting before".

If our job can at least make that the kids remmeber this, we feel very proud.

We want to say thank to Inmculada, Noelia and all the people of the Tourist Office of Segovia for all their help and amability

Thanks to for all the people of the Residencia Padre Claret, they were all vey lovely and the food was great.

An thanks to all the people that make possible that LUDUS GLADIATORIUM VULCANUM (LGV Gladiadores) could be in Segovia Romana 2009.

LUDUS GLADIATORIUM VULCANUM in the Roman Market of El Burgo de Osma.

¡AVE!

After we get a great success of public and oppinions in El Burgo de Osma, we come back with more animos to continue working.

In El Burgo de Osma we test our Gladiator's Show and our martiality as legionaries.

The roman army aren't our principal interest but we are very happy with the results that we achieve.

The Gladiators Show was follow for a lot of people in the fourth shows that we did. Saturday morning, saturday afternoon, sunday morning an sunday afternoon.

In the saturday afternnon we participated in a batlle between Romans and Barbarians. In this battle our gladiator Postumo, playing the Optio of the legion was injuried by a sword, and we had to call the galenos that suture his forefinger with 3 stitch.

In the saturday night our fellows team members Celer an Audens fighted each other with fire swords and Artifex has the honor of kill the Barbarian's Chief captured in the battle in a singular combat.

As you can see was a very intense weekend. We have made a video with the summary.
